TREM’s Daily 28 October 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo - Hold Fast To Your Identity In Christ

Topic: Hold Fast To Your Identity In Christ — Saturday October 28, 2017.

“But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;” -(2 Timothy 3:14 KJV)

So many believers go about with the mentality that they are cursed and so nothing works for them. It appears they have more faith in the activities of the devil than in what God is doing. Some are coming to church regularly and yet they are not growing and because of that the devil has made minced meat of them. The devil does not care how long you have been coming to church, how much you donate or how many Bible translations you have as long as you don’t know your identity. The devil came to Adam to make him doubt his identity. He said “has God said…?” In other words, do you really believe what God said? I thought that he would drop that trick but he still came to Jesus and said “if you are the Son of God…” In other words, he was asking Jesus if he really believes that He is the Son of God. This was just after God openly declared “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased”

Child of God, are you doubting your identity in Christ? As a believer don’t you know that when you accept failure, what you are saying is that Jesus failed? Today the devil tells you when to go to bed and when to wake up, what to eat and what not to. If you hear some believers talk about Satan, from the way they magnify his activities you will think that God is hiding under the table. But the last time I read my Bible it says he that sits in the heavens shall laugh, because he knows that he is not in contention with the devil. The devil is already a defeated foe and whatever he is doing is just a waste of time. The devil is the one who is reacting to the things the Lord has already done. Your victory is already sure.

Text: 1 Kings 15:16-24

Key Verse:"There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me"(1 Kings 15:19).

"The Bible," A.W. Tozer asserted, "recognizes no faith that does not lead to obedience, nor does it recognize any obedience that does not spring from faith. The two are opposite sides of the same coin." This was what Asa, who ruled Judah for 41 years, could not realise. As a reformer, he embarked on total cleansing of his kingdom with the removal of the priests, who engaged in immorality.

He also destroyed all the idols, including the one that his grandmother erected, and even removed her from being queen because of her involvement in idol worship. He was quite sincere in his reformation agenda. The in-depth account of his reign in 2 Chronicles 16 revealed that when Baasha, king of Israel attacked Judah, Asa did not trust God anymore for assistance.

Instead, he bribed Benhadad, king of Syria with gifts to break up all military relations with Israel to make Baasha end the attacks against his kingdom. Benhadad agreed and attacked some cities in Israel, which made Baasha to withdraw his offensive on Judah. Prophet Hanani, reprimanded him, reminding him of the good outcome of his trust in God when the Ethiopians and the Libyans came against Judah. Instead of repenting in dust and ashes, Asa put the prophet in prison.

Some contemporary Christians are like Asa. They begin to serve God very well but with time, they throw their faith to the wind. They often resort to self-management or carnal support. Is God dead or on vacation? No. He says, "call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me" (Psalm 50:15). We must learn to always trust Him completely in every situation. Our resolve during perplexing moment must be to trust less in the arms of flesh but fully in the everlasting arms.

Thought for the day: He who faints in the day of adversity has a limited strength.

David Abioye's Daily 28 October 2017 Devotional - Absolute Dependency On God

Topic: Absolute Dependency On God [Saturday October 28, 2017]

Faith is unyielding and unbending.

Faith is absolute and resolute.

Faith knows no man after the flesh

Faith focuses on God and His Word only.

Faith is uncompromising neither does it look for an escape route.

It burns the bridge and goes head long

Faith doesn’t attempt to look back either.

Faith stands out and make its boast in God.

Faith says, “whatever God cannot do, let it remain undone.”

Memorise:"For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." - Psalms 30:5

Read Psalms 30:1-5

1 I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Bible In One Year Luke 13-15. Hymn: Sing Hymn 11 - Standing On The Promises Of Christ

MESSAGE:

A truth catches one's attention in today's Bible reading; God can be angry! If this wasn't the case the Bible wouldn't have said; "For His anger endureth but a moment". Jeremiah 25:6 further corroborates this fact by saying that the God of love can be provoked to anger. Having said this, we must also acknowledge the fact that His anger does not last forever. There is a condition though. When you don't take God and His mercies for granted, and you genuinely turn away from your wickedness, He will deal with you as I you have never sinned before. When our relationship is cordial with God, we can boldly say like the Psalmist; "(due to the variable nature of life)"...but joy cometh in the morning."

Prayer Point: Father, let my morning of joy come now.

TOPIC — THE HOLY SPIRIT: PERSONALITY AND ATTRIBUTES [SUNDAY OCTOBER 29TH, 2017]

MEMORY VERSE: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” – John 14:26

BIBLE PASSAGE: John 16:1-11

INTRODUCTION:

The Holy Spirit is a Personality often misunderstood or misinterpreted in the Christian faith. His outstanding numerous qualities, diversities of operations and dramatic influence (as the successor of Jesus Christ) on the Apostles and the Christians as a whole, are so remarkable and worthy of considerations.

LESSON OUTLINES:

1. Who is the Holy Spirit?

2. What are His attributes?

WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

The Holy Spirit is not a feeling or a falling, a crying or a wailing. He is no emotion. He is, however, a person. He is the third person of the Trinity otherwise known as the Comforter (John 16:5-7). He is the One that will make life more comfortable and profitable for His people especially as they engage in greater works than the Lord Jesus did (John 14:12). He is the Chief Executor of the divine programme on earth (John 15:26; 16:7-14) and the force behind every revealed plan of God. He is the Revealer of the hidden treasures of the kingdom of God (John 14:25-26). He is the key to the inheritance of the saints in glory (Ephesians 1:18; Colossians 1:12) and the Central Figure behind any breakthrough in life (Acts 1:8; 19:11-12). He is also the Revealer of the sonship of the sons of God (Romans 8:16). He was the divine interruption of an ungodly order, who supernaturally released the Apostles from the clutches of fear (of the Roman Empire) to the realm of exploits for God e.g. taking over the synagogues as if there were no priests there previously (Acts 6:7; 4:1-4).

WHAT ARE HIS ATTRIBUTES?

He is omnipresent (Psalm 139:7; Ephesians 2:17-18; 1Corinthians 12:13); omniscient (1Corinthians 2:10-11); omnipotent (Luke 1:35; Romans 8:11); eternal (Revelations 1:8). He comforts, teaches and guides (John 14:26, 15:26, 16:13). He reproves, helps, glorifies and intercedes (John 16:7-13; Romans 8:26). He is the oil of joy (Isaiah 61:3), the oil of gladness (Psalm 45:7). He is honoured as they are in the baptismal formula (Matthew 28:19), and in the apostolic benediction (2Corinthians 13:14). He receives the name (2Corinthians 3:17), and exercises the attributes of God (Romans 8:14; 1Corinthians 6:19). He is prayed to as God (Philippians 2:6-11). Sin against Him is sin against God (Acts 5:3-4; Ephesians 4:30) and blasphemy against Him is unpardonable (Matthew 12:31). Creation is ascribed to Him (Genesis 1:2; Job 26:13) and the working of miracles (Matthew 12:28; 1Corinthians 12:9-11). Worship is required and ascribed to Him (Isaiah 6:3; Acts 28:25).

CONCLUSION:

The Holy Spirit undoubtedly has a comforting ministry, which can be our experience today.

QUESTIONS:

1. Who exactly is the Holy Spirit?

2. What are the attributes of the Holy Spirit?

TOPIC — THE HOLY SPIRIT: PERSONALITY AND ATTRIBUTES [OCTOBER 29TH, 2017]

OPENING PRAYER: Almighty Father, send the Holy Spirit to me afresh to remind me what your word has taught me.

BIBLE PASSAGE: John16:1-11

1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

3 And these
things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.

5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

MEMORY VERSE: “At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:” -John: 16:26

Memorise:This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; – 1 Timothy 1:18

Read: James 5:17-18 (KJV)

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Bible in One Year: Hebrews 9-10, Hosea 5-6, Hymn: Sing Hymn 1 – My Faith Looks Up To Thee

MESSAGE:

A prophecy is of little or no good to the one it has been sent if it does not move from the realm of the spirit into the physical realm. Your attitude to a prophecy plays a great role in determining its manifestation in the physical world. Today’s Bible reading tells us how best to relate with prophecies. Through it, we understand that it is important to pray before making a decree and also after you prophesy. At a time when the nation of Israel was in the grip of a serious national backsliding, Elijah stood before King Ahab and decreed that there would be no rain until he reversed that decree (1 Kings 17:1). Immediately after he made this decree, he went into seclusion. The king only heard the decree, but he did not know what went on behind the scenes. Apostle James tells us that Elijah prayed earnestly before he made this decree. After the nation had experienced intense famine for 31 and half years, God asked Elijah to show himself again to the king. Elijah then stood before King Ahab on Mount Carmel and told him to celebrate because he had heard the sound of abundant rain (1 Kings 18:41-46). He said this only after he had successfully turned the backslidden hearts of the children of Israel back to God. After making his declaration to Ahab, he left the presence of the King, fell on his face and prayed earnestly to God until his prophecy came to pass.
Coming up next: Open Heavens 30 October 2017: Monday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – Shutting Up Mockers
Never make a decree or release a prophecy without the backing of prayer. Several people have received certain prophecies that they knew without a doubt was meant for them, and yet they have not witnessed their manifestation in their lives, even while several others are testifying of the fulfilment of the same prophecies in their own lives. What could be wrong? The difference is that some heard, received the prophecy and prayed for its fulfilment, while others heard, received it, but did nothing afterwards. The good thing is that all is not lost; every prophecy that has been spoken into your life or that you have received is still hanging around in the spirit realm, waiting for you to bring it into the realm of the physical through your earnest prayer. A man who had been barren for over 30 years once asked God what he should do, and God said he should wait. When he attended one of our meetings, a prophecy came forth saying “the waiting period is over”. He thanked God, received it and prayed earnestly. That month, his wife conceived. Go ahead and pray for the manifestation of every prophecy God has sent to you that is yet to become reality in your life.

Key Point: Every prophecy can become reality if only you can apply the tool of effective, persistent prayer.

HYMN 1: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE

Verse 1:
My faith looks up to thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine;
Now hear me while I pray;
Take all my guilt away.
O let me from this day
Be wholly thine!

Verse 2:
May thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire.
As thou hast died for me,
O may my love to thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!

Verse 3:
While life’s dark maze I tread
And griefs around me spread,
Be thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From thee aside.

Verse 4:
When life’s swift race is run,
Death’s cold work almost done,
Be near to me.
Blest Savior, then, in love
Fear and distrust remove.
O bear me safe above,
Redeemed and free!

Our Daily Bread 29 October 2017 Devotional – Trust Tally

Topic: Trust Tally— Sunday October 29, 2017.

Read: Deuteronomy 1:21–33, Bible in a Year: Jeremiah 18–19; 2 Timothy 3

See, the Lord your God has given you the land. . . . Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.Deuteronomy 1:21

Before my husband and I surrendered our lives to Christ, we seriously considered divorce. But after committing to love and obey God, we recommitted to each other. We sought wise counsel and invited the Holy Spirit to transform us individually and as a couple. Our heavenly Father continues to help us develop healthy communication skills. He’s teaching us how to love and trust Him—and one another—no matter what happens.

Yet, even as we head toward celebrating our twenty-fifth anniversary, I occasionally forget everything God has done in and through our trials. Sometimes, I struggle with a deep-seated fear of the unknown—experiencing unnecessary anxiety instead of relying on God’s track record.

In Deuteronomy 1, Moses affirmed the Lord’s reliability. He encouraged the Israelites to move forward in faith so they could enjoy their inheritance (v. 21). But God’s people demanded details about what they’d be up against and what they’d receive before committing to trust Him with their future (vv. 22–33).

Followers of Christ are not immune to succumbing to fear or anxiety. Worrying about what difficulties we may or may not encounter can keep us from depending on faith, and may even damage our relationships with God and others. But the Holy Spirit can help us create a trust tally of the Lord’s past faithfulness. He can empower us with courageous confidence in God’s trustworthiness yesterday, today, and forever.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for affirming that we don’t need to know everything that lies ahead when we know You. We know You never change.

God’s past faithfulness proves His everlasting dependability.

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily October 29, 2017 Devotional: Come, Lord Jesus

Topic: Come, Lord Jesus [Sunday October 29, 2017]

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. - 1 John 3:2-3

Hopelessness. As this age draws to a close, that's a feeling that's going to be more and more common among the people of this world. But, you know, it's something we as believers never have to feel! Because no matter how much pressure comes on the earth, no matter how dark the natural circumstances around us are, we know that we have hope in the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sometimes we forget that. We get our attention focused so intently on the natural things of this life that we lose that hope and get caught up in the hopelessness around us. But we don't have to let that happen.

A friend of mine once met a born-again Arab woman in the Middle East who was living proof of that. The woman was caught in a life most of us would consider almost unbearable. She was living in a war zone that had been torn up by violence. She faced the danger of bombs and bullets every day.

Now that Arab woman had no hope in the natural. Her country was being destroyed around her. She had to go to Israel to work and get money for her family because there were no jobs where she was, no way to make money. Things around her seemed to be going from bad to worse, but she told my friend she had hope because she knew that Jesus was coming back for her. And that hope kept her going.

So, if you're feeling hopeless, get your eyes off this world and get them on the soon return of Jesus. Not only will that raise your spirits, the Bible says it will purify you. It will cause you to live uprightly, to separate you from the sin and failure of the world around you. It will lift you into the joy and victory of God.

Think about this. When this old world comes to an end, you and I will just be getting started. We'll be stepping into the most glorious life we've ever known. The people of the world may look back wistfully and wish for better days gone by. But for you and me, the best is yet to come. So we can shout hallelujah in the midst of trouble and say with the Apostle John, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus." Come quickly!

Seeds of Destiny 29 October 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche — In Everything, Give Thanks

Topic: In Everything, Give Thanks [Sunday October 29, 2017]

Scripture: In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. - 1 Thessalonians. 5:18

Thought For The Day: In every situation we find ourselves, there is something to thank God for.

Sometime ago, I was a bit angry with myself because I did not wake up on time to pray in the morning as I should. However, before the devil could use my anger against me, I realised that my challenge was that I did not wake up on time to pray whereas there were those who did not wake up at all that day – they slept and ended in death. I also realised that I was angry that I overslept whereas there are those who can pay any amount of money in order to have a good sleep at night.

Beloved, in every situation we find ourselves, there is something to thank God for. The situation you are facing may be bad but it is never totally bad. If you have a challenge, God is the reason why it is not worse.

Many times, the enemy keeps people’s eyes on their challenges so that they cannot see God’s goodness. If only you can see reasons for thanking God in everything and give Him thanks, you will frustrate the agenda of the devil and provoke God’s counsel and goodness on your life.

Remember this: In every situation we find ourselves, there is something to thank God for.

Assignment (S):

1. Take time out today to thank God for your life.

2. Make it a habit to thank God always for everything and in every situation.

John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Text: John 16:33

Jesus said we would have tribulation. He did not say that He was the one bringing the tribulation or what the tribulation would be, but He said it would come. Then He made the amazing statement that in the midst of tribulation we were to be of good cheer.

Tribulations exist because there is a battle between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of the devil. When we operate in faith, God is able to grant us such victory that we are actually better off because of the battle. It's just like when a army goes to war. If they win, they gain spoils. But if they embrace their enemy because of the spoils they were expecting to receive, they will be killed instead of blessed. First, you have to fight and win the war and then, and only then, will the spoils be available. The enemy doesn't come to be a blessing, but a blessing can be obtained from the enemy if we are victorious.

Likewise, tribulations and adversities are not blessings from God. They are attacks from the enemy intended to steal the Word of God out of our lives. No man should say that the temptation came from God, for God is not the one who tempts any man (Jas. 1:13).

If problems were what perfected us, then most Christians would have been perfected long ago and those who experienced the greatest problems would be the greatest Christians. However, that's not the way it is. God's Word is given to us to make us perfect, and thoroughly furnished unto every good work (2 Tim. 3:17). God's Word does not need to be supplemented with problems to accomplish its work.

Let the peace of God rule in your hearts . . . — Colossians 3:15

When we examine the problems that confront us in our world today, we find that every one of them resolves into a problem of “inner space,” a problem of the dark side of the human spirit. From thousands of letters we receive, it is evident that a large proportion of the population is facing deep personal problems. They vary from person to person, but they do exist, and they are all problems of “inner space.”

Yes, we are the people who have been conquering outer space, but are in danger of losing the battle of the spirit. But there is a solution-for millions it has already been reached-and that solution is in Jesus Christ. He said, “My peace”-my liberty, my freedom-“I give unto you” (John 14:27).

Today if we will turn the searchlight of truth on the dark side of our human spirits and let Jesus Christ become the Master Control of our lives, a new day will dawn for us. Submit the “inner space” of your life to Him.

Prayer for the day: How often I hurt deep down inside me, Lord, but the knowledge of Your love and compassion brings me hope and peace.

Written by Billy Graham, Founder of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association(BGEA). BGEA exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ by every effective means and to equip the church and others to do the same.

TREM’s Daily 29 October 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo - It Has Been Done

Topic: It Has Been Done — Sunday October 29, 2017.

“Blessed be the Lord and the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3 KJV)

Ever before you did right or wrong, God has already moved on your behalf. In Christ, God has already blessed us. It is not about you. It is because He has moved on your behalf on the cross of Calvary. That is why you are entitled to the blessing. It is not because you did right. It is because of Christ. So what is your assignment? Say thank you Jesus. Thank you for what you have done in my life. I believe I receive. Thank you for my salvation. Thank you for delivering me. Thank you for healing me. Thank you for setting me free. That is your part. The fact that you have not yet seen the manifestation does not mean it has not been done. It has already been done!

The scripture says in Titus 2:11: “for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men”. But not all men have received it. Therefore the question is not whether it has been done, it is whether you are receiving what has already been done for you in Christ. The death, burial and resurrection of Christ, guarantees us complete and total victory, so all we have to do is believe and receive it.

With only a couple of days left in this fast, I want you to thank Him for all the answers, whether you have seen the manifestation or not, thank Him, because they shall all surely manifest. It’s already done.

Our Daily Manna October 29, 2017: ODM devotional – The Coca-Cola Formula!

Topic: The Coca-Cola Formula! [Sunday, October 29, 2017]

Coca-Cola has a formula for their drink. There is a vault (a safe) where the legendary secret for Coca-Cola is secured in Atlanta Georgia, USA. Regarded as the most closely guarded and best-kept secret, the secret formula has been closely guarded for over 125 years without leaks! Shocking! Coca-Cola inventor, John Pemberton, is known to have shared his formula with at least four people before his death in 1888.

In 1891, Asa Candler purchased the rights of the formula from Mr. Pemberton’s estate, founded the Coca-Cola company, and instituted the present secrecy that has since enveloped the formula. He also made significant changes to the ingredient list, which by most accounts improved the flavor, and also entitled his to claim that: Anyone in possession of Pemberton’s original formula no longer knew the ‘real’ formula! Again in 1919, Ernest Woodruff led a group of investors into purchasing the company from Candler and his family. As collateral for the acquisition loan, Woodruff placed the only written copy of the secret formula in a safe at the lending bank, Guaranty Bank in New York.

I n 1925, when loan was repaid, Woodruff relocated the written formula to the Trust Company Bank (now Sun Trust Bank) in Atlanta. On December 8, 2011, the company placed it in a secure safe on the grounds of the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, where it remains on public “display.” According to the company, only two employees know the complete formula at any given time and they are not permitted to travel together. When one dies, the other must choose a successor within the company and impart the secret to that other person. The identity of the employees in possession of the secret is itself a secret.

Amazing! Just like Coca-Cola that has such an fantastic formula, you must have a ‘secret’ personal formula for the ‘drug’ called ‘happiness’ which you will need to PARALYZE DISCOURAGEMENT As 2017 ends and as you prepare for another 21-day fast in January 2018. I personally have 3 secrets:

1. MORE AND MORE OF HIM – JOHN 3:30

2. MORE AND MORE OF LESS AND LESS!

3. MAKE PEACE WITH YOURSELF! Never compare yourself to others!

Oh, number two formula has helped me daily to walk in inner peace: MORE AND MORE OF LESS AND LESS! That means I do more of having fewer desires for material of physical things. I also TRUST people less and less so that when they fail or betray me, I do not get shocked anymore! Indeed, when you wake to see life as VANITY daily, then your desires will be lesser (fewer) and lesser (fewer)! It provokes CONTENTMENT AND KILLS GREED as a secret formula for happiness! What is your secret! Pray now! GO TO CHURCH TODAY!

DCLM Daily Manna 29 October, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi - No Way For Hypocrisy

Topic: No Way For Hypocrisy— Sunday October 29, 2017.

Text: Luke 11:37-54

Key Verse: "And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness"(Luke 11:39).

Adolf Hitler, who does not need any introduction in history, at assumption of office in Germany freely used Christian vocabulary, professed God’s blessing and Christian confessions, showed his pre-war tattered Bible and declared that he drew strength from it.

These claims made people to welcome him as a man sent from God. But was he really a believer in Christ? Our text is Jesus’ clear warning against hypocrisy which He spotted in the Pharisees’ lives. As one of them invited Him for a lunch, Jesus did not wash His hands as expected by the pharisees. That, of course, triggered their censorship. Jesus, immediately, cashed in on the opportunity and firmly upbraided them for their wrong way of worship.

They had many rules, which principally centred on outer things like washing cups and dishes. They emphasised these outward things, while failing to love God and exercise faith in Him. They paid their tithes but failed to take care of the needy. They always wanted to appear superior to others, desiring to be seen and respected. They were like graves with no marks, which people could walk upon without taking notice, and end-up wounded. Though they pretended to honour the prophets slain by their ancestors by building their graves, they did not obey what those prophets had taught them to do. Invariably, they behaved like their ancestors – approving their evil deeds.

Today, many so-called leaders still insist that people must follow unimportant rules while they themselves disregard God’s injunctions. At the end of time, God will tell them, "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." God wants us to have right thoughts and attitudes and be classic models of genuine transformation and purity.

Thought for the day: No child of God is a hypocrite.

Teens’ Open Heavens 29 October 2017 by Pastor Adeboye - Not Reprobate

Topic: Not Reprobate [Sunday 29, October 2017]

Memorise:"But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates." - 2 Corinthians 13:6

Read: 2 Corinthians 13:5-8

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

Bible In One Year: Luke 16-18. Hymn: Sing Hymn 5 - Oh Spread The Tiding Round

MESSAGE:

To be reprobate is very dangerous for the society and for the Christian faith in particular. The reason is not far-fetched; a reprobate person does immoral and unethical things without any sense of guilt or remorse because his conscience has been seared with a hot iron of deviance.

The of Some of the 21st century believers is the philosophy of relativism. This is a human error that should not be allowed in the body of Christ because it turns believers into reprobates. Some people have sold themselves to reprobate minds, and so no number of sermons they hear can change them. They keep saying, "My conscience does not condemn me". The truth is that a dead conscience cannot condemn, because it is not active.

Prayer Point: Lord Jesus, please cleanse my conscience with Your Blood so that it may be more active and sensitive for You.

HYMN:
SING HYMN 5
OH SPREAD THE TIDING ROUND

Oh, spread the tidings ’round, wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and human woes abound;
Let every Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound: The Comforter has come!

Chorus:
The Comforter has come,
The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n,
The Lord’s dear promise giv’n;
Oh, spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found,
The Comforter has come!

2. The long, long night is past, the morning breaks at last;
And hushed the dreadful wail and fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills the day advances fast!
The Comforter has come!
Chorus:

3. Lo, the great King of kings, with healing in His wings,
To every captive soul a full deliv’rance brings;
And through the vacant cells the song of triumph rings:
The Comforter has come!
Chorus:

4. O boundless love divine! how shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell the matchless grace divine
That I, a child of hell, should in His image shine!
The Comforter has come!
Chorus.

David Abioye's Daily 29 October 2017 Devotional - Where Is Your Heart

Topic: Where Is Your Heart [Sunday October 29, 2017]

The true Christian character is an exhibition of state of the heart.

The proof of your heart with God is that you are doing His will.

God could testify of David as a man who will do His will because his heart was fully with God.

“…A man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.” Acts 13:22 (Is 44:28)

If you are not keen about obeying God to the letters then your heart is not with him.

Your heart is not with God by your words but by your attitude and by your action.

Saul’s heart betrayed Him by not doing God’s command. 1 Sam 13:14

Joyce Meyer's Daily 29 October 2017 Devotional: Take Off the Mask

Topic: Take Off the Mask [Sunday October 29, 2017]

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit. — 2 Corinthians 3:18

So many times we act one way on the outside, but we’re actually another way on the inside. Because we have weaknesses, faults and fears—things that we think make us less likable or desirable—we’d rather hide them from other people. So we wear masks.

The danger of wearing a mask is that it misrepresents us. What other people see is a lie. It’s not who we are or who we were born to be. We can change the outside, but we can’t change who we really are deep down inside—only God can change our hearts.

We need to realize that God loves us just the way we are right now, and His love for us will never diminish.

And there’s more good news. Second Corinthians 3:18 says that God is changing us and making us more like Himself, fixing the flaws we want to cover up.

Trust Him enough to take off your mask. You will find, as I have, that you are being changed, little by little, into the very image of your Lord.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I realize that I often wear a mask in order to fit in and find acceptance. Today, I make a decision to find my acceptance in You. As You overwhelm me with Your love, continue to change me into Your image.

Topic: Shutting Up Mockers — Monday 30, October 2017.

Memorise: The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. – Proverbs 10:28

Read: Psalm 35:15-19 (KJV)

15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:

16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

17 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.

18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.

19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.

Bible in One Year: Hebrews 11-13, Hosea 7, Hymn: Sing Hymn 8 – Great Is Thy Faithfulness

MESSAGE:

God is a specialist at disgracing mockers and giving His Children the last laugh. This season, you shall laugh last in Jesus’ Name! In Mark 10:46-52, when Bartimaeus was crying to Jesus for help, some people were irritated. Do you know that there are people who do not want your voice to be heard at all? “Shut up you blind beggar! With people like us around, do you think the Master would have time for a beggar like you?” They laughed at him with an air of importance, but he ignored their mockery and cried out for help all the more. They got angry at this defiance. “You’ve got some nerve, you noisy fellow! If you know what is good for you, you better keep your mouth shut!” they continued mocking him as the crowd moved along. However, to their amazement, Jesus suddenly stopped and said, “There is a blind beggar along this street behind us. Go and bring him here and now.” Immediately, the laughter of his mockers ceased. The laughter of your mockers has come to a permanent end today in Jesus Name! The same mockers became his helpers. They politely took him to Jesus, and after Jesus healed him, he became the centre of attraction. Very soon, you that people thought would never amount to anything will become the centre of attraction in Jesus’ Name!
Open Heavens 31 October 2017: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – Prayerlessness Disallowed
A particular sister was dying at the University of Lagos Teaching Hospital. Her husband met the doctors and they confided in him that she would not live to see the following morning under any circumstance. So he went to his wife, pretending to care for her, and he told her he would see her the following morning, secretly expecting to meet her corpse by then. As he left the hospital, he phoned his mistress and said, “My stupid wife will pass away tonight. Come over and let’s have fun.” The mistress came to his house and they were “having fun”, but because they never expected anyone to disturb them, they did not even lock the door of the bedroom. They were in for the shock of their lives. After this man left the hospital earlier on, that same night, the Lord Jesus Christ visited his sick wife and said, “I am the Lord that healeth thee; rise up and go home.” As she got up and walked out of the hospital, the nurses thought they were daydreaming and seeing her ghost, and so they did not stop her. She got home and caught the two evil doers in their illicit act. She said to them, “You thought I was dead, but I am alive and well.” Every evil expectation of your enemies shall be disappointed in Jesus’ Name! You shall laugh from now on.

Prayer Point: Father, turn every expectation of my mockers to disappointment.

Hymn 8: Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Verse 1
“Great is Thy faithfulness,”
O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not,
Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been
Thou forever wilt be.

Chorus:
“Great is Thy faithfulness!”
“Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed
Thy hand hath provided,
“Great is Thy faithfulness,”
Lord, unto me!

Verse 2
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Verse 3
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily October 30, 2017 Devotional: It's Your Decision

Topic: It's Your Decision [Monday October 30, 2017]

And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw [Jesus],he fell at his feet, And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. And Jesus went with him. - Mark 5:22-24

I wonder when God is going to do something about this problem! Have you ever asked that question? If so, you may be surprised to find out that the answer depends 100 percent on you.

There's an incident in Mark 5 that will show you what I mean. Jesus had just gotten out of a boat and people were pressing all around Him, "thronging Him," it says. They had Him shoved up against the shoreline when suddenly there came a man moving through that crowd to get to Jesus.

Throwing himself at Jesus' feet, Mark records, he prays and beseeches Him greatly, saying, "My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her... and she shall live."

Think about this situation for a moment. Here's a man who's politically on the level of the mayor of the city. But he's so doggedly determined to get to Jesus that he fights his way through the crowd and clears out enough room to fall at Jesus' feet. He's made a decision—and when he gets to Jesus, he says exactly what it is: Lay your hands on her and she shall live.

Let me ask you something: Who do you think is directing the ministry of Jesus here? This one man! A man who's made a decision. When he speaks that decision out, Jesus doesn't say anything. He just stops what He's doing, turns around and follows him.

In a crowd of literally thousands, the faith decision of one man is directing the actions of Jesus.

What does that mean to you? It means that if you're sitting around waiting for Jesus to decide to heal you... for Jesus to decide to help you...for Jesus to decide to prosper you and give you victory...you're in for a long wait. Because that's not Jesus' decision.

It's yours.

Scripture Reading: Mark 5:21-24,35-43
