Our Daily Bread 14 January 2018 Devotional – Knowing and Loving

Topic: Knowing and Loving [Our Daily Bread 14th Sunday January, 2018]

Read: John 10:7–16, Bible in a Year: Genesis 33–35; Matthew 10:1–20

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27

“Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so” is the message of one of Christian music’s most enduring songs, particularly for children. Written by Anna B. Warner in the 1800s, this lyric tenderly affirms our relationship with Him—we are loved.

Someone gave my wife a plaque for our home that gives these words a fresh twist by flipping that simple idea. It reads, “Jesus knows me, this I love.” This provides a different perspective on our relationship with Him—we are known.

In ancient Israel, loving and knowing the sheep distinguished a true shepherd from a hired hand. The shepherd spent so much time with his sheep that he developed an abiding care for and a deep knowledge of his lambs. Little wonder then that Jesus tells His own, “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me. . . . My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:14, 27).

He knows us and He loves us! We can trust Jesus’s purposes for us and rest in the promise of His care because His Father “knows what [we] need before [we] ask him” (Matthew 6:8). As you deal with the ups and downs of life today, be at rest. You are known and loved by the Shepherd of your heart.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for how You tenderly love and care for me. Help me to trust You in all areas of my life.

The wonder of it all—just to think that Jesus loves me!

Insight:

When we experience difficulties, it helps to read about God’s faithfulness to others. Psalms 77 and 78 describe Asaph’s trials that caused him to doubt God’s love for him (77:7–9). Having experienced God’s presence in the past, he yearned to experience that same closeness yet again (vv. 1–6). As he recalled how God had mightily rescued and redeemed His people from slavery in Egypt (vv. 10–20; 78:1–55), he is assured of God’s presence. He confidently speaks of God as the Shepherd who “brought his people out like a flock” and “led them like sheep through the wilderness” (78:52).

How does the image of God as a Shepherd help you as you go through difficult days? K. T. Sim

Topic: Under Your Feet [Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Sunday January 14th, 2018]

The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until I make thy foes thy footstool. - Acts 2:34-35

Even though Satan lost all his authority on this earth the day Jesus rose from the dead, for the past 2,000 years he's been running around as a spiritual outlaw—continuing to kill, steal from and destroy all who will let him. But, you know, he's not going to be able to do that much longer. There's coming a day when he's going to be put out of business completely. There's coming a day when the evil he's done here on earth will be put totally underfoot by the power of God.

Most believers know that's true. They've shouted and rejoiced over it—but they haven't really understood how it's going to happen. They haven't realized that they are the foot that's going to trample down the works of the devil!

Jesus is the Head of the Church. You and I are the feet. We are the ones who are going to take His authority and power and stomp on sin and sickness and every other demonic thing in this earth. We are the ones God is going to use, as Acts 2:35 says, to make Jesus' enemies His footstool.

That's what Jesus was telling us when He said, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature...cast out devils...lay hands on the sick" (Mark 16:15-18). He was saying, "Go ye and be My foot." He was saying, "All power and authority has been given unto Me, both in heaven and in earth. Therefore, you take it and use it to put the devil under."

But instead of obeying Him, we've waited around wondering when God was going to do something about this mess here on earth. We've sat around wondering why it's taking so long for Jesus to come back.

We're the reason it's taking so long! Jesus is waiting on you and me. He's waiting on us to step out in His power, put the devil in his place, and win the world. He's waiting on us to drop our silly doctrinal differences and get busy doing what God said we would do.

The Bible says that one can put a thousand to flight and two can put 10,000 to flight. Every time we get together, we increase our strength astronomically. If we'd just get together and figure out who we are, if we'd realize that we're the feet of Jesus, we could kick Satan out of earth's affairs with ease.

Do you want to hasten Jesus' return? Then quit sitting around staring at the clouds! Start stomping around in the spirit. Start putting the works of the serpent under your feet and we can wrap this thing up and go home to glory real soon!

Topic: Do You Know God? [Billy Graham’s Daily Sunday January 14th, 2018]

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. — John 10:14

Unless God is revealed to us through personal experience, we can never really know God. Most of us know about God, but that is quite different from knowing God. We learn about God through the agencies of the church, the Sunday school, the youth activities, the worship services. Many people stop in their quest for God at this point. It is one thing to be introduced to a person, but quite another thing to know him personally.

Prayer for the day: Lord, You are, indeed, the good Shepherd, who leads me each day. Help me to love and know You more deeply so that others may be drawn into Your fold.

Andrew Wommack’s Daily 14 January 2018 Devotional: Peace With God

Topic: Peace with God [Andrew Wommack’s Daily Sunday January 14th, 2018]

Luke 2:14,"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Text: Luke 2:8-20

In another instance, Jesus said He did not come to send peace on the earth, but a sword. Then He prophesied that those who received Him would experience persecution, even from their own family (Mt. 10:34-36). How do these verses fit together?

The peace the angels were singing about was not a peace between men; they were rejoicing that there would be peace between God and man. When Jesus prophesied division and war in Matthew 10, he was speaking of relationships between men.

Through the Old Testament law, God began to release His wrath on man's sin (Rom. 4:15). It wasn't the wrath of Satan that Jesus suffered on the cross.

He suffered the wrath of His Father (Isa. 53:10-12; 2 Cor. 5:21). The Father placed His punishment for our sins on Jesus. This ended the war between God and man. This is the peace that the angels were proclaiming.

As a result of men receiving this peace from God there have also been many cases of reconciliation between men, but that is an effect; not the actual peace that was spoken of. These effects are secondary.

Today, through Jesus, we now have peace with God (Rom. 5:1). God is not mad at us. He isn't even upset. We have been accepted through Jesus (Eph. 1:6).

Believe the good news that through Jesus, the war between God and us is over.

Topic: God Is Still In Control [TREM’s Daily Sunday January 14th, 2018]

“And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.”Exodus 1:22 (KJV)

I come your way this beautiful day to make it abundantly clear that our God is still in absolute control. You don’t have any reason to panic in spite of what you see or hear. The God you serve is not wondering what to do. The last time I checked my Bible; He is still sitting on His throne and laughing at the devil.

Like I have always said and it bears repetition, you need to understand that God does not react. It is the devil that reacts. Whenever you see the devil’s activities on the increase, know that God has done something incredible which the devil cannot understand. You will recall that when Pharaoh decided to kill all the new-born babies in Egypt, it was intended to stop Moses – the appointed deliverer of God’s people. When Herod also decided to kill all the new-born babies in Bethlehem, it was because Jesus the Messiah had been born. Anytime you see satanic activities on the increase, it is not because God is in trouble. No! It is because He has already gone ahead to do something powerful. That is what makes the devil mad.

Beloved, God has already gone ahead of you to give you the victory. It doesn’t matter what the devil is doing around you. God does not play games. You may be going through some unpleasant experiences, but I want you to know that He has already gone ahead of you. Your part now is to rest in the finished work of Christ. Be fully persuaded that He is not a man to lie nor the son of man to repent. Know that whatever He has spoken concerning you will surely come to pass.

I declare that everything that once stood against you will fall for your sake. This year, you will sing your song and dance your dance. Settle it in your heart that God who did not spare His only begotten Son Jesus, but gave Him to you, will also through Him freely give you all things.

Topic: Your God Is A Businessman! No Subtraction This Year! [Our Daily Manna ODM Sunday, January 14th, 2018]

Deuteronomy 33:29 is prophetic this new year! It says: happy art thou O Israel, who is like unto thee, O people saved by the lord, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! And thine enemies shall be found lairs unto thee; and thou shalt trend upon their high places. Yes, in 2018 THINE ENEMIES SHALL BE FOUND LIARS and that is why THEY CANNOT TAKE AWAY ANYTHING FROM YOU! THERE SHALL BE NO SUBTRACTION!

Isaiah 48 verse 17 says: thus saith the lord, thy redeemer, the holy one of Israel: I am the lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leaded the way that thou shouldest go. Note the words TEACHETH THEE TO PROFIT! That means God wants you to profit this year! To profit means to GAIN, to GAIN means ADDITION while to LOSE means SUBTRACTION! I am led to prophecy that 2018 shall be your year to GAIN! It is your year of no more SUBTRACTION! It is your year of PROFIT! You cannot have a business and all you see is losses or subtraction, God is more than a businessman! He is a no nonsense businessman.

When he does or creates anything including animals, fish, etc, he is always talking of reproduction, fruitfulness and multiplication. Yes he is always talking about increase, not decrease, Genesis 1:28, after the flood in Genesis 9:1 when God was blessing Noah, his command was clear: Be fruitful and multiply! In Genesis 17:1-2, when he was introducing Himself to Abraham as Jehovah El-shaddai- the God who is more than enough, He spoke again about being fruitful and multiplication! God is never satisfied with you the way you are, NEVER! It does not matter how great you are, you can be much greater in 2018! The lord is saying, your best is yet to come.

Determine to complete this fast and sow your DECORATION CHANGE OF GARMENT SEED in this fasting programme and be at the WORLD ANOINTING DECORATION NIGHT in your prophetic dress/shirt which you will tear that night (not the one you wore to the programme)! Get ready! Also pray the DECORATION PSALM which will be sent to you after sowing! WHATSAPP AND E-MAIL ARE BETTER AND CONTAIN FULLER PRAYERS than just texts! This is your year of MULTIPLICATION! NO SUBTRACTION! Amen!

Today is day 9 of this fasting program! Turn to page 50 of the WAR AGAINST HAMAN-13 booklet and pray today’s prayers. Then be at the TBS Lagos on Friday January 26th 7pm for the change of garment world anointing decoration night! Bring a second dress/shirt you can afford to tear after prayers! It will be great!

DCLM Daily Manna 14 January, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – Not Destined to Damnation

Topic: Not Destined to Damnation [DCLM Daily Manna Sunday January 14th, 2018]

Text: 1 Timothy 4:1-11

Key Verse: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;”(1 Timothy 4:1).

It is very common for people to want to attribute whatever happens to them to fate. By so doing, they try to exonerate themselves from their failures and misfortunes. It is true that some occurrences are “acts of God”, a whole lot of others happen either as a result of carefully calculated plans and efforts or through sheer negligence, carelessness or ignorance. Thus, we must take responsibility for the outcome of our choices in life.

In the passage for reading, Apostle Paul speaks of the events of the last days. He foretells that there will be great apostasy and explains why this will happen. People will begin to take interest in strange doctrines and teachings of the devil. There will be so much in sincerity and hypocrisy – people will not be ready to admit the truth about the real state of their lives. Hearts will begin to get hardened as a result of repeated sins and deliberate neglect of the truth. As we look all around us, we can see this prophecy of the scriptures already being fulfilled. People are already departing from the faith. But it doesn’t have to be you!

While some will surely be part of those whom this prophecy will be fulfilled in their lives, no one in particular has been destined to perish. Those who depart from the faith do so because they fail to take to heart the warning of the Spirit. Everyone is saved through repentance and faith in Christ.

Thus saved, you can choose to be part of the many others who will not depart from the faith by staying far away from sin, strange doctrines and teachings, and being careful of where you fellowship and who you fellowship and pray with. Everyone who is righteous must watch, lest they fall

Thought For The Day: It is sheer folly to treat one’s spiritual focus with disdain.

Topic: Let People Know They're Infinitely Valuable [Joyce Meyer's Daily Sunday January 14th, 2018]

I have discovered that most people we meet or come in contact with in our everyday lives don’t have a sense of their infinite value as children of God. I think the devil works very hard to make people feel devalued and worthless, but we can neutralize the effect of his lies and accusations by building up, encouraging and edifying people.

One way to do this is with a sincere compliment, which is one of the most valuable gifts in this world. Offering a sincere compliment may seem like a small thing, but it gives tremendous strength to people who feel insecure or like they don’t matter much.

I believe in having goals, and as I was working with God to develop good habits in the area of encouraging others, I challenged myself to compliment at least three people each day. I recommend that you do something similar to help you become an aggressive encourager.

The Bible says that God adopts as His children those who feel abandoned. Let’s find those people and strive to build them up, making them feel valuable. Let’s let them know God loves them.

Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, show me the people who don’t know that God loves them as His own children. Bring me across their paths so that I can encourage them and make them feel valuable.

Memorise:To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. - Revelation 3:21

Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-10 (KJV)

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

Bible in One Year: Genesis 31, Revelation 13, Hymn: Sing Hymn 5: I Have Decided To Follow Jesus

MESSAGE

Starting a journey to a great destination is such a nice experience, but it is of no use if the journey does not end at the expected destination. It is of utmost importance not just to finish a journey but to finish it well. It is not a trivial thing that of about the six hundred thousand adults who left the land of Egypt among the Israelites, only two of them got to the Promised Land (Exodus 12:37, Numbers 32:11-12). This should serve as an example and a warning to every child of God running the Christian race in these end-times (1 Corinthians 10:11). Ezekiel 33:18 should be food for thought for every child of God who plans to meet the Lord at the last trump (1 Corinthians 15:52). The ultimate goal of the Christian journey for every true child of God is to be transformed and meet the Lord in the air when the trumpet sounds (1 Thessalonians 4:17). I pray that you will not miss this great congregation of the saints in Jesus’ Name. There is however another destination, a place of eternal perdition, awaiting the devil, his demonic cohorts and all those who follow him to do evil among men. Matthew 25:41 says,

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:”

Beloved, I pray that your portion will not be with the devil in Jesus’ Name.

What should be done to finish well in times as these? The Lord provides answer in Mark 13:35-37:

“Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”

What must we watch? We must watch what goes into our heart and what comes out of it. We must watch what we feed our eyes and ears on. We must watch our speech, our mode of dressing, what we eat and drink and the kind of company we keep. A Nigerian proverb says, “The sheep that keeps company with dogs will soon develop an appetite for bones.” If you will end your journey well, you must be steadfast in godliness. I pray that you will finish well and not fall by the wayside in Jesus’ Name.

Prayer Point:Father, please help me and give me the grace to finish well in Jesus’ Name.

Hymn 5: I Have Decided To Follow Jesus

1. I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.

2. The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.

3. Though none go with me, I still will follow;
Though none go with me, I still will follow;
Though none go with me, I still will follow
No turning back, no turning back.

4. My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
My cross I’ll carry, till I see Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.

5. Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
No turning back, no turning back.

Topic: Lean on the Rock [Billy Graham’s Daily Monday January 15th, 2018]

When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. — Psalm 61:2

When you become a Christian, it doesn’t mean that you will live on a perpetual “high.” The Psalmist David went down to the very depths, and so did the Apostle Paul. But in the midst of all circumstances God’s grace, peace, and joy are there. The tears will still come, the pressures will be felt, and so will the temptations. But there is a new dimension, a new direction, and a new power in life to face the circumstances in which you live.

Prayer for the day: David and Paul have given me the example of trusting You, Lord, even in the excruciating valleys of life. Like them, I praise You.

Luke 2:24, "And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons."

Text: Luke 2:21-24

The Old Testament passage being quoted is from Lev. 12:6-8. There the Lord commanded a lamb and a young pigeon or a turtledove as the prescribed sacrifice. If the woman was unable to offer a lamb, then two young pigeons or two turtledoves were acceptable. Mary would not have offered the lesser offering if it had been in her power to provide the lamb.

This reveals that Joseph and Mary were not well off financially, yet the Lord chose them to be the earthly parents of His only begotten Son.

The Lord doesn't choose the way man chooses. Man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart (1 Sam. 16:7).

Mary and Joseph were chosen when they were without: without fame, without position, without money. God entrusted the most precious gift He had to a couple who would surely have been overlooked if men had been conducting the search.

God isn't looking for ability, but rather availability. D. L. Moody once heard a preacher say, "The world has never seen what God can do with one man who is totally yielded to Him." In response, D. L. said, "By the grace of God, I'll be that man." This uneducated man went on to shake three continents for God.

God will choose you too, if you'll make yourself available to Him (1 Cor. 1:26-28).

Topic: Pursuing Unity [Our Daily Bread 15th Monday January, 2018]

Read: Colossians 3:9–17, Bible in a Year: Genesis 36–38; Matthew 10:21–42

Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and in all. Colossians 3:11

Growing up during the 1950s, I never questioned racism and the segregation practices that permeated daily life in the city where we lived. In schools, restaurants, public transportation, and neighborhoods, people with different shades of skin color were separated.

My attitude changed in 1968 when I entered US Army Basic Training. Our company included young men from many different cultural groups. We soon learned that we needed to understand and accept each other, work together, and accomplish our mission.

When Paul wrote to the first-century church at Colossae, he was well aware of the diversity of its members. He reminded them, “Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and in all” (Colossians 3:11). In a group where surface as well as deeper differences could easily divide people, Paul urged them to “clothe [themselves] with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” (v. 12). And over all these virtues, he told them to put on love “which binds them all together in perfect unity” (v. 14).

Putting these principles into practice may often be a work in progress, but that is what Jesus calls us to. What we as believers hold in common is our love for Him. On that basis, we pursue understanding, peace, and unity as members of the body of Christ.

Amid all our wonderful diversity, we pursue an even greater unity in Christ.

Christ’s love creates unity in the midst of diversity.

Insight:

Colossians 3:11 lists ancient Colossae’s diverse people groups. Most familiar are the Jews (the children of Israel) and the Greeks (Gentiles in general—all non-Jews). Paul describes these two groups with the terms circumcised (Jews) and uncircumcised (Gentiles). Then he adds barbarian, Scythian, slave, and free. The distinctions between slave and free are obvious. Scythian refers to wild nomadic tribes and barbarian describes those who didn’t speak Greek and therefore were considered uncultured. The result is a spectrum of ethnically, linguistically, economically, and socially diverse people—all who found the ground to be level at the foot of the cross. Bill Crowder

Topic: Become Secured In The Word [TREM’s Daily Monday January 15th, 2018]

“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.” (Mark 13:31 KJV)

God is truly for us! God is with us!  And if God is for us who can be against us? But until we become acquainted and secured in the immutable and impregnable nature of the word of God we will remain a cheap victim in the hand of the devil. The devil doesn’t mind your coming to church every day. He doesn’t mind your dancing and sweating or high-fiving one another as long as you are ignorant and unable to know how the kingdom operates. So, if you don’t have an understanding of how God’s kingdom operates being regular in Church changes nothing.

It is important, therefore, that you know exactly what the word is saying; otherwise, all the goodness that God ordained for you will continue to elude you. That is the exact place the enemy wants us to be – the place of ignorance.

The greatest revelation you can ever receive is that the devil is a liar and God is totally true. He doeth only good and there is power in His word. God’s word has no margin for failure. Every other thing will fail but not the word of God because He created all things by His word.

Hebrew 4:12 says the word is quick and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, joints and marrows. Only the word can reach your tripartite being- the spirit, soul and body. It is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Another thing you should know is that every word declared over your life will not return void. It will produce in your life. It will produce healing in your body. It will open doors for you. It will elevate you. It will open your womb and it will give you a breakthrough in your life. I sense in my spirit that before this year ends you are going to receive a bumper harvest. Receive it in Jesus name!

God is vehemently against worry. Jesus preached against it. Paul preached against it. The whole Bible preaches against worry because it was designed by Satan to produce stress, strain and death.

Yet many of us still act as if it's an option, as if we're free to worry if we want to. But we're not! Worrying is a sin. It's one of those things the Word of God directly commands us not to do.

What are you supposed to do then with all the concerns you have about your problems? In 1 Peter 5:7, God says you should "cast them all upon Him." All. Not 75 percent of them. Not all of them but the ones about your kids. All of them!

Your confession every morning should be, "I do not have a care in this world because I've cast every one of them onto my Lord."

Let me illustrate how that works. Let's say you were standing about 20 feet away from me and I tossed my car keys to you. If someone else were to come to me and say, "Brother Copeland, I need the keys to your car. I need to use it," I would say, "I can't help you. I cast my keys over on him. I don't have them anymore."

That's what you need to do with your worries. You need to cast them over on the Lord and not take them back. If Satan brings a worried thought to your mind, saying, "What if this terrible thing happens?" then you can tell him to talk to God about it. It's in His hands, not yours!

Once you do that, changes will start to take place in your life. Problems you've been fretting about for years will start being solved. You'll no longer be tying God's hands with your worrying. His power can begin to operate because you've acted in faith and cast your cares on Him!

Remember, though, God will not take your cares away from you. You have to give them to Him. Then you have to replace those worries with the Word. You are the one who has to keep your thoughts under control. But you can do it. The Greater One dwells within you. He is able to put you over. Commit to it. You'll never have to worry again.

Topic: No Subtraction This Year [Our Daily Manna ODM Monday, January 15th, 2018]

In Genesis 22:15-18, when God was blessing Abraham and Isaac after Abraham had attempted to sacrifice Isaac at Mount Moriah, He said in blessing, I will bless you, in multiplying, I will multiply your seed. WOW! This God has no business with MINUS, SUBTRACTION OR LOSSES this year. He is always talking about multiplication.

Mr. Lot went into Sodom full, but he left with a subtraction, he left without his wife and the subtraction of lots wife produced Moab, a nation that became the last Vegas (sinful headquarters of immorality) and capital enemy of Israel – Genesis 19:15-26, 31-38.

Naomi left Judah full with her husband and children but she returned alone and empty, that was subtraction, Ruth 1:1-5. Naomi said to the people of Judah, Do not call me Naomi but call me Mara Ruth 1:19-21. Subtraction makes people to ask you, where is your God? I prophesy, as the oil of ADDICTION MINUS SUBTRACTION comes upon you at the WORLD ANOINTING DECORATION NIGHT, SUBTRACTION PRODUCERS shall be disgraced!

Topic: Understanding Dedication [Seeds of Destiny Monday January 15th, 2018]

Scripture: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.Matthew 6:33

Thought For The Day: Being serious with God is a mark of dedication.

God proves Himself in the lives of those who are dedicated to Him. Dedicated people are candidates for the proofs of God.

One practical example of such men is Abraham. Due to his dedication, God proved Himself in his life and made him great. Therefore, it is important to know what dedication is all about in order to achieve greatness in life.

Now, what does it mean for a person to be dedicated to God?
1. Dedication to God means living a life that is sold out to God.
2. Dedication to God means the willingness to go all the way with God.
3. Dedication to God means walking with God. Genesis 5:24.
4. Dedication to God means deadly commitment to God.
5. Dedication to God means taking sides with God. When people are on a different side from God, a dedicated person is on the same side with God.
6. Dedication to God means living in the reverential fear of God.
7. Dedication to GOD means living for God. It is living, moving and having your being in Him (Acts 17:28).
8. Dedication to God means living a life of affection for or being deeply in love with God.
9. Dedication to God means existence in fire for God.
10. Dedication to God means commitment to the cause of God on earth.
11. Dedication to God means seriousness with God. Being serious with God is a mark of dedication.
12. Dedication to God means being separated unto God.

Beloved, I counsel you to make up your mind to be dedicated to God.

Remember This: Being serious with God is a mark of dedication.

Assignments:

1. Go through the outlined points once again.
2. Make up your mind to be brutally dedicated to God.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask that You give me the grace to be brutally dedicated to You. Help me Lord, to love You wholeheartedly, in Jesus’ Name.

Topic: Hope In Misery [DCLM Daily Manna Monday January 15th, 2018]

Text: Joel 3:1-20

Key Verse:“And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.”(Joel 3:18).

At the time of Prophet Joel’s ministry, a deadly plague of locust took place in Judah, so grave that the Jews’ daily sacrifice had to be discontinued. The suspension of this age-long service partly meant the stoppage of the full worship of Jehovah. For such a discerning man of God as Joel, some more severe danger lay ahead. God revealed to him that the plague of locusts was a harbinger of the “day of the LORD”, when the people would be tormented by palpable darkness. “The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining” (verse 15).

The picture speaks of utter destruction, gloom and judgment from God. What was the cause? The people Judah experienced unprecedented prosperity that drew them into spiritual laxity and complacency. They went further into self-centredness and idolatry which disconnected them from Jehovah who would not look on without meting out appropriate chastisement as a good father should. Now, Joel said a bigger and more encompassing war would occur on the “day of the Lord”. It would be a conflict between God and the people who refuse to submit to Him or call on the name of the Lord for their salvation. And no one will be able to endure the calamity on that day.

The prophet also spoke about the restoration of God’s people and full Kingdom blessings for them. “But Judah shall dwell forever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion” (Joel 3:20,21). Truly, escape from divine wrath and restoration to favour with Him happens when the sinner/backslider repents and asks for cleansing by the shed blood of Christ. Saved believers must commit themselves to preaching the gospel so sinners can escape divine wrath.

Thought For The Day: The door of mercy will be shut forever after the day of judgment.

Effective Family Altar (2) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Effective Family Altar (2)

Dear Reader,

I believe you were blessed by the last teaching and you have created a family altar already if you didn’t have one before. It is my earnest prayer that all your family desires be answered speedily on the prayer altar. In this edition, I will teach on Consistency in Prayer, which I believe will enhance your prayer life and establish lasting peace in your home and marital life.

Luke 18:1 says: And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint. Let me quickly state here that the Word “men” in this verse, is not referring to the male gender, but to both male and female. So, if you are a woman, don’t push the responsibility of prayer to your husband with the claim that, “I am not a man, so that scripture is not for me.” Prayer is the responsibility of every member of the family, if you must excel both at home and other areas of life. Jesus said …men ought always to pray and not to faint. In essence, there will be situations that will try to make you give up on prayer, but if you understand how effective your prayer is to your life and family, you will embrace this phrase, Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

What then, is Consistency?

Consistency among other things means to steadfastly adhere to the same principle, form or course. That means to be continuous in doing something. To receive the answers you desire in prayer and still keep gaining exploits, you must be continuous at it. Jesus told a parable to His disciples in Luke 18:2-7, He said: …There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? The words “Day and Night” used in this parable connote consistency and the result is that she was avenged speedily. So, be encouraged!

Most people don’t maintain a consistent prayer life because they claim not to have time. They are always in a hurry and they return to find the same problems waiting for them at home. Challenges don’t solve themselves! Don’t be nonchalant; before you know it, it will be too late. Every tough nut requires consistent hard knocks to break.. Don’t watch the devil destroy your home or your children’s destiny.

That seemingly embarrassing situation in your family can be turned to a thing of glory if you will not give up in prayers. That you didn’t get instant answers to your prayers does not mean God has not heard you. Have you not heard? He hath made every thing beautiful in his time… (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Don’t give up! Be consistent in your prayer life and you will find your home and marital life gradually becoming more and more a haven.

Rejoice! It is never too late with God. Maybe your situation is like that of Lazarus, already dead and stinking. As you invoke the presence of Jesus through your consistent prayer it will be revived with speed. Even if your home is already broken and family members scattered; refuse to give up. God will soon show up in your life and home!

Don’t let anybody deceive you by saying, “How long will you continue with your prayers, if God wants to answer you, He should have done so by now.” Then, they lure you off to native doctors and all manner of satanic places only to add more to your problems. Stop it! You can’t serve God and mammon! Jesus said: No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24).

The Bible says: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Refuse to be deprived of the good things God has given you freely in His Word. The way to do that is to cultivate a vibrant prayer life and you will enjoy a vibrant family life. I see a great revival taking place in your prayer life, both as a family and as an individual. This is the dawning of a new day in your marital life in Jesus mighty Name!

If you are not born again, you are not yet a child of God and it will be impossible for you to benefit from what has just been discussed as God is only committed to His own (Romans 10:9-10; John 1:12). But if you want to be born again and become a child of God now, why not say this simple prayer in faith: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ Name! Call or write to share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org, 07026385437 OR 08141320204.

Topic: Learn to Forgive Like Jesus [Joyce Meyer's Daily Monday January 15th, 2018]

Although my father and my mother have abandoned me, Yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child]. — Psalm 27:10

I once heard about a teenager who was drinking and caused an accident that killed a man’s wife and child. The man knew God wanted him to forgive the young man who caused the accident, and through much prayer he was able to let the love of God flow through him.

That man knew how to forgive like Jesus. He understood that this young man was also hurt himself and needed healing.

When people hurt us, we should learn to look at what people have done to themselves instead of just looking at what they have done to us, because hurting people hurt people. Usually, when a person hurts someone else, he’s probably hurting himself at least as much and is suffering as a result. That’s why, as He hung on the cross in agony, Jesus said of His murderers, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

That’s incredible forgiveness. Let that inspire you today. We all need to seek to forgive like Jesus.

Prayer Starter: Lord, when people hurt me, help me see past my own pain and see their pain. Help me love and forgive like Jesus.

Topic: Daring The Most High God? [Open Heavens Monday 15th January 2018]

Memorise: Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies: Psalm 78:56

Read: Daniel 3:14-30

14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

22 Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.

25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.

27 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

Bible in One Year: Genesis 32-33, Revelation 14:1-13, Hymn: Sing Hymn 9: The Old Rugged Cross

MESSAGE:

“Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?” - Isaiah 45:9

Whenever I read the words of this scripture above, I tremble. It is quite astonishing to see mere mortals “flexing muscles” with the One who made them. You can be a ‘dare-devil’, but you better not dare the Almighty God; the end result will always be catastrophic for you. Today’s Bible text narrates a classical example of someone who dared to challenge his Maker: King Nebuchadnezzar. When Nebuchadnezzar commanded all to bow before the golden image he had set up, the Hebrew boys refused to bow, daring the devil in King Nebuchadnezzar. In response, Nebuchadnezzar dared the God of heaven and threw His children into the fiery furnace in defiance of God’s supremacy. However, the God of those Hebrew boys, who is also the God of all flesh, showed up in the furnace and rescued His children. It is unfortunate that those who, by the order of the king, threw them into the fiery furnace were all burnt to ashes. I decree that as it happened to those who threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into the fiery furnace, so shall it be to all the enemies of God in your life in Jesus’ Name. Although Nebuchadnezzar temporarily repented of his folly after witnessing the awesome power of God, he still got a taste of God’s punishment down the line: he was turned into a beast for a season (Daniel 4:28-37)! May those who are challenging the Almighty God in your life be like Nebuchadnezzar, Pharaoh, Herod and all those who dared the King of glory throughout history.

How can a mere mortal possibly challenge the Almighty God? It seems ridiculous, but amazingly, this happens on a daily basis in the world that we live in today. We see nations making law against the natural order set by God, judges redefining marriage contrary to what the Almighty God Himself instituted, and people calling to question the very existence of God. Such attitudes are not new. This defiant trend has persisted throughout all of history, but the sponsors of such assault on the Divine have always paid dearly for their actions. Are you daring God in any way? I hope your answer is no. Please, never you dare the Almighty God, not even through subtle disobedience. May the Lord cause you to be wise enough never to dare Him.

Prayer Point: Father, please remove folly far away from me so that I may not challenge You to a fight through disobedience.

Hymn 9: The Old Rugged Cross

1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
And I love that old cross where the Dearest and Best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Chorus:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it someday for a crown.

2. Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

3. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

4. To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me someday to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.
