Kenneth Copeland’s Daily October 25, 2017 Devotional: Get Rid of the Frogs

Topic: Get Rid of the Frogs [Wednesday October 25, 2017]

When shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses? -Exodus 8:9

Have you ever wrestled with one of those problems that stubbornly refuses to go away? It seems to be immune to all solutions. You swat at the thing in every conceivable way, but instead of being eliminated, it expands and multiplies until it's wildly out of control.

An Egyptian pharaoh faced just that kind of problem, the Bible tells us, thousands of years ago. He was in a hot dispute with God over the future of the Israelites, and as a result of that dispute, he woke up one morning to find his country swarming with frogs. Slimy, smelly, hopping-all-over-the-place frogs.

It was a serious problem. I'm not talking about a frog or two in the front yard. I mean frogs were everywhere—in their beds, on their tables. Big old frogs in the ovens. Little bitty frogs in the bread dough and the drinking water. Frogs. Frogs in your hair. Frogs in places you wouldn't even want to think about!

Then God made a move. He sent His man Moses in to Pharaoh to ask, "When shall I entreat the Lord to get these frogs out of here?"

Do you know what Pharaoh said?

"Tomorrow."

Can you imagine that? He could have said, "Right now! Today!" But instead he decided he'd spend one more night among the frogs.

You say, "That's the stupidest thing I ever heard. Why in the world would he say tomorrow?" I don't know. Probably for the same reason you want to wait until tomorrow to get saved or healed or prosperous.

Here's what I want you to notice. When Moses asked Pharaoh that question and he answered, "Tomorrow," Moses said, "All right. So that you know there's a God in heaven, be it done according to your words."

Let me ask you this: How long are you willing to let that persisting problem harass you? When are you going to get rid of the frogs in your life? Do you realize they'll stay around as long as you'll let them? They'll be there until you finally make a quality decision to go with the Word of God and get them out.

Why don't you do it today?

DCLM Daily Manna 25 October, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi - Live As Christ’s Epistle

Topic: Live As Christ’s Epistle — Wednesday October 25, 2017.

Text: Ephesians: 4:20-27

Key Verse:"But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus"(Ephesians 4:20,21).

A well-known owner of a chain of hotels endeavors to render the best of service to his guests. He often says to his employees, "Remember, my reputation is in your hands!" In a sense, Christ’s reputation is in the hands of believers. Others will judge Him by those who profess to know Him and serve him.

This explains why someone once said: "The devil is willing for a person to confess Christianity as long as he doesn’t practice it". Our meditation today enumerates some anomalies which are not supposed to be found in the lives of true disciples of Christ. Lying, anger, animosity, stealing, laziness; corrupt discussions, grieving the Holy Spirit, disobedience, bitterness; wrath, clamour, evil speaking, malice, etc. should not be found in any heavenly-minded Christian.

The true believer is one whose spirit is renewed to conform to the nature of God’s righteousness. He manifests truthfulness and upright walk, kindness, tenderness of heart and forgiveness. The Christian life is a glorious and enjoyable one if only we abide in the teachings of Christ and follow Him daily, laying aside every conduct we have not learnt from Him.

Only then will the ideal reputation of Christ be seen by the world around us and they will be drawn to accept and serve Him as their Lord and personal Saviour. So, let your lives and lips express the holy gospel you profess, and let our words and actions show the way out of the pollutions of the world.

Thought for the day: True disciples follow the steps of the Master.

Seeds of Destiny 25 October 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche — Diligent Work: A Condition For Divine Health

Topic: Diligent Work: A Condition For Divine Health [Wednesday October 25, 2017]

Scripture: By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through. Ecclesiastes 10:18

Thought For The Day:Rest belongs to those who work; to rest without work is to rust.

It has been established that for every provision in scriptures, there are conditions to follow. When these conditions are ignored, the outcome is failure and frustration.

There are conditions in scriptures needed to live in Divine health, free of sicknesses and afflictions. One of these conditions is working diligently.

Hard work assists healthy life; diligence assists longevity. Idleness equals decadence and indolence equals degeneration.

Our anchor scripture tells us that …By much slothfulness the building decayeth… and 1 Corinthians 3:9 refers to us as God’s building. This means that we are God’s building, and if we refuse to work, we begin to degenerate.

There is dignity and energy in labour. God’s servant, Bishop David Oyedepo once said that it is not hard work that wearies people; it is wrong work. Rest belongs to those who work; to rest without work is to rust.

Now, how does work enhance health?

1. Productive work releases the body’s potential and energy. There is vitality that is released by dynamism.

2. Idleness invites the curse (Amos 6:1). In fact, there is no greater curse than idleness and indolence.

3. God works with workers; He moves with movers (John 5:17).

Beloved, live productively. Pour your life’s energy into something productive for life and eternity. Let your life be filled with the excitement of assignment. A life that is not productively busy is a burden. A life that is not working is not worthy.

Remember This: Rest belongs to those who work; to rest without work is to rust.

Assignments:

1. Engage yourself in profitable and diligent work.

2. Shun every form of idleness and indolence.

Prayer: O LORD, I ask for the grace to work diligently in order to remain healthy in Jesus’ Name.

Home Breakers! (4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Home Breakers! (4)

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the concluding part of the teaching on HOME BREAKERS.  In the previous editions, I taught on anger, bitterness, impatience and covetousness. These are some of those things that can break homes.  Consciously working on these weaknesses will bring about a quick turn-around in your life. This week, I shall conclude this teaching by examining the topic “Wrong Company.”

The Word of God in Proverbs 13:20 says: …He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.  A man doesn’t have to be completely foolish to be destroyed; all he needs to do is to walk with the foolish and soon, the folly in his friend will become part of him too. Walking with a foolish person is as bad as being foolish.

The company you keep either makes or mars you. It doesn’t leave you neutral. The major cause of problems in some homes today is wrong company caused by family members who keep receiving counsel and moving with people who always cause trouble in their homes. Wrong association will affect you negatively. It will make you do things that you may never have done on your own. You must be careful about your choice of company and friends.

A wise man once said “Show me your friends, and I will tell you who you are.” Who is your friend? If your friend is one that is a liar, a cheat, one that beats his wife or one that is covetous and into adultery and you think you are not anything like him or her, then you are wrong. Very soon, the nature of your friend will begin to rub off on you and the end result will be destruction.

Anyone that constantly gives you wrong counsel against your wife, husband or family well-being will destroy your home. 1 Corinthians 15:33 says: Be not deceived: evil communication corrupt good manner.  A wrong company or association corrupts good manners. The basis for any association should be agreement (Amos 3:3). When the company or association you keep is not in agreement with the things you believe in, then you must quit your relationship with that company.

Remember, friendship as they say, is by choice and not by force!  Separate yourself from wrong friends. Be selective in your association.  Select your friends in wisdom. Do not allow wrong company to destroy your family and home.

How and where should you choose your friends? Your friends must be selected prayerfully. There are some people that may appear good on the outside, but within, they are full of cankerworms. You must engage the Holy Spirit to lead you to who you should be close to. Do not just discuss your family affairs with anybody, but find out if such a person has the Spirit of God in him or her.

The ultimate help is from above and not from any human. If you need help in your home run to God. However, help from God will come faster when you are born-again. If you would like to be born-again, please say this prayer: “Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today acknowledging that I am a sinner who needs Your forgiveness. I believe You died for me and rose again on the third day. Forgive me my sins, wash me with Your Blood and write my name in the Lamb’s Book of life. Thank You Lord for saving me.”

Congratulations, you are now born-again! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now a child of God.He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace in Jesus’ Name! Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org, 07026385437 OR 08141320204.

Joyce Meyer's Daily 25 October 2017 Devotional: Real Love the Energy of Life

Topic: Real Love the Energy of Life [Wednesday October 25, 2017]

But let every person carefully scrutinize and examine and test his own conduct and his own work. He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable [in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison with his neighbor.Galatians 6:4

Love is the energy of life. It’s what motivates people to get up each day and keep going. It gives life purpose and meaning.

People often have times in their lives when they believe they are either unloved or have no one to love. They develop this mindset because they are looking for fulfillment in ways that seem good at first but often leave them feeling frustrated, disappointed and empty inside.

Does this ever happen to you? Do you ever look for love and end up feeling unfulfilled? Let me ask you this: What kind of love are you pursuing?

You may think you’re looking for love, but really, you’re looking for God, because He is love. Any love you gain that is disconnected from God is not really love and will leave you feeling unfulfilled.

The Bible says that in Him we live, move, and have our being. That tells me that without Him, life is not complete.

Everyone is looking for love, but are you looking for God’s love? It’s the only love that matters, the only love that lasts, and the only love that fulfills.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I don’t want to spend my life unfulfilled, pursuing love that’s not from You. If it’s not found in You, it’s not real love, because You are love. Today, I find my love in You.

Topic: Comfort in Grieve [Wednesday 25th October, 2017]

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.1 Thessalonians 4:13

We’ve all lost someone dear to our hearts. We've also had to comfort someone that lost someone dear. The hardest part of losing someone is comfort. In those times it would appear that there are no suitable words for comfort, or all the words shared feel out of place, or just makes you feel more hollow. Some persons borrow from Job's ignorant statement and say “the Lord gives, the Lord takes”. But this only makes us angry at God for taking and causing such pain. Why would He take the righteous that walks according to His will, and leave the wicked and unrighteous? Even I don’t know the answer. But the answer is irrelevant. What is relevant is our knowledge of the fate and hope of those that sleep in the Lord.

Paul says to the Thessalonians “but I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1  Thessalonians 4:13‭-‬14‭, ‬16‭-‬17). We need not cry without end and hopelessly because we have lost a loved one, for we have a hope that as Christ was raised up, so also would they be raised up at the Second Coming, and we shall be caught up with them to be with Christ forever. This is our hope and comfort in grieve, that they rest in God and would be resurrected at the Second Coming, and that we would be caught up with them also.

“Wherefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:18). There is no more hopeless grieve,  we stand fast in hope and knowledge of the resurrection. And we therefore rejoice in anticipation of our seeing them again.

Keep winning daily.

Wise Action:

When next (its inevitable) you’re confronted with grief or placed in a position to comfort someone in grief, don’t jump to routine ineffective words. Use words of hope and comfort as provided in scripture, thereby not only comforting the grieved, but also boosting their hope and faith in God.

A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: He Can Use What You Have [25/10/2017]

For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.2 Corinthians 8:12. 2 Ki 4:1-8.

While we wallow in the valley of ignorance of nothingness, the devil laughs at us while God tries to make us see the wealth of potentials He has deposited in our lives right from creation. Just as we said yesterday, God does not create anything useless and without a purpose in His heart. Everyone of us are heavily loaded with everything we need to succeed in life. The gifts from one person to another differ but we're all created unique.

Just when Gideon saw nothing in him, the angel of the Lord called him a man of Valor whom the Lord had chosen to deliver the children of Israel out of bondage of the Philistine. His heart and his background deceived him, but only God who knows what He had deposited in every man told him the truth about him. There is nobody (not even yourself) that can tell you about yourself than your Creator - God.

Note that God cannot require from you or to do what you have no capacity to do because that would amount to wickedness. What do you have? He can use it to the highest if you release it to Him. He can multiply that your little into abundant. Release to Him, and you will never end little.

#BiblePromisesPrayer

* Lord Jesus, multiply the little in my hand to abundance in Your Name. Amen

Memorise: " For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called." - Isaiah 54:5

Read: Hosea 2:2-5

2 Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

3 Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

4 And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.

5 For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

Bible In One Year: Luke 7-8. Hymn: Sing Hymn 5 - Oh Spread The Tiding Round

MESSAGE:

The relationship between God and humans can be likened to the relationship between a husband and his wife. God, who instituted marriage, patterned the relationship in marriage after His relationship with His people. This is why spiritual adultery is severely punished from time to time in the history of man and his interaction with his maker.

God is jealous, like a man can be jealous over the relationship of his wife with another man, when humans follow other gods besides Him(Exodus 20:5). Our Lord Jesus Christ also said that our love cannot be possibly shared between God and ephemeral things of this world (Luke 16:13). Serving God and mammon is spiritual adultery, punishable by rejection and shame.

Beloved, beware of spiritual adultery, stick to Jesus Christ, the Lover of your soul and He will do you good.

Prayer Point: Father, please forgive me of any spiritual adultery I might have committed against You and our spiritual matrimony. For Christ sake please do not reject me.

Today’s Scripture:"For he chose us in him before the creation of the world…" - (Ephesians 1:4, NIV)

Topic: Before Creation [Wednesday October 25, 2017]

Did you know that God chose you before the foundations of the earth? Before the worlds were ever formed, He knew you. And, He didn’t create you to be average. He didn’t create you to barely get by. No, He created you to excel! Not only has He chosen you, He has equipped you with everything you need to live and thrive in this life. He has deposited seeds of greatness inside every person. But in order to tap into those seeds of greatness, you have to believe this and act on it.

Too many people today are going around with low self-esteem, feeling inferior like they don’t have what it takes. But that is living a lie. And as long as we have a poor self-image, we’re not going to experience God’s best. In order to be all that God has called us to be, we have to see ourselves as chosen, valuable and victorious.

Today, meditate on this truth. Let it sink down deep into your heart. Let it build confidence and security in you. As you understand your value in the eyes of God, you’ll be empowered to live the life of victory He has prepared for you!

A Prayer for Today:"Father God, thank You for choosing me. Thank You for equipping me. Help me to see myself the way You see me. Show me Your ways that I may walk with You in confidence and trust all the days of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen."

Memorise: The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits. 2 Timothy 2:6

Read: Proverbs 27:23-27 (KJV)

23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.

24 For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?

25 The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.

26 The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.

27 And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.

Bible in One Year: Titus 1-3, Philemon 1, Hosea 1, Hymn: Sing Hymn 10 – There Shall Be Shower Of Blessing

MESSAGE:

Insincerity is a terrible character flaw that has led to the undoing of different generations of mankind. Take for instance Cain. He had no reason whatsoever not to have known that it was the nature and attitude of his sacrifice that made the Righteous God reject his offering. Furthermore, there was no justifiable reason whatsoever for him to have gone ahead to murder his brother, after he had been told that his wicked intentions were known to the Omniscient God. However, because he was not sincere to himself, he did what he did and he forever lived with its consequences. One dimension of the insincerity of men is manifested when people speak or work against paying a labourer his due wages. If you are one of such people, please know that this character is not a part of God’s nature and His word is against it. In 1 Timothy 5:18, God said:

“…Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.”
Coming up next: Open Heavens 27 October 2017: Friday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – The Essence Of Spiritual Office
Some people envy hardworking colleagues who are being promoted. As it is generally assumed, promotion comes with its responsibilities as well as its attendant goodies and benefits. More often than not, people refuse to see the added responsibilities of a hardworking leader; they only see his or her derivable benefits. This attitude is not godly.

There are some valuable lesson on labour and reward which I would like to point out to you today. First, I want you to know that since God has said that He who does not work should not eat, the righteousness of God makes it imperative that he who works must eat, (2 Thessalonians 3:10, 1 Timothy 5:18). Secondly, as you lay your bed, so will you lie on it. The more diligent you are in business, the more comfortable you will be after fulfilling all godly conditions. Thirdly, when you are diligent in your vocation, business or job, you will be promoted to lead, because Proverbs 12:24 says,

“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.”

The fourth lesson I want you to note is that riches are not forever. However, they can endure on one condition: if you continue to be diligent at your business. The fifth lesson is that God must be factored into whatever you do. Remember that except the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain that build it (Psalm 127:1). This consideration has to do with being faithful in paying your tithes, offerings, vows and the first fruits of your increase (Malachi 3:10, Psalm 50:14, Proverbs 3:9). Beloved, the most needful of all these is that you give your life to Christ and accept the redemption which He used His life to procure for all mankind. It shall be well with you.

Prayer Point: Father, through the knowledge of Your word and Your Holy Spirit, help me to be sincere with Your principles which govern being blessed in this world and the world to come.

HYMN 10: THERE SHALL BE SHOWER OF BLESSING

1. There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.

[Chorus]
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

2. There shall be showers of blessing--
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.
[Chorus]

3. There shall be showers of blessing:
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing;
Come, and now honor Thy Word.
[Chorus]

4. There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we're confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!
[Chorus]

Our Daily Bread 26 October 2017 Devotional – Exceedingly Better

Topic: Exceedingly Better — Thursday October 26, 2017.

Read: 1 Chronicles 17:1–15, Bible in a Year: Jeremiah 9–11; 1 Timothy 6

He is the one who will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever. 1 Chronicles 17:12

My birthday is the day after my mother’s. As an adolescent, I would scramble to think of a gift that delighted my mom yet fit in my budget. She always received my purchases with appreciation, and on the following day, my birthday, she would present her gift to me. Without fail, her gift vastly outshone mine. Her intention wasn’t to diminish what I’d given her; she simply gave generously from her resources, which far exceeded my own.

My desire to give to my mother reminds me of David’s wish to build a home for God. Struck by the contrast between his palace and the tent where God revealed Himself, David longed to build God a temple. Instead of granting David’s wish to give, God responded by giving David an exceedingly better gift. God promised that not only would one of David’s children (Solomon) build the temple (1 Chron. 17:11), but that He would build David a house, a dynasty. That promise began with Solomon but found its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus, whose throne was indeed “established forever” (v. 12). David wanted to give from his finite resources, but God promised something infinite.

Like David, may we always be moved to give to God out of gratitude and love. And may we always see how much more abundantly He has given to us in Jesus.

Prayer: Father God, I thank You for Your astounding gift to me in Jesus Christ. Your love overwhelms me.

God’s gift to us in Jesus Christ exceeds all gifts.

John 15:19"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."

Text: John 15:19

We should not think it is strange to be persecuted. "All that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution" (2 Tim. 3:12). We can actually rejoice because we are being persecuted for Jesus' sake, and the Lord will be with us in the midst of the persecution. When we stand before Him, there will be more than ample reward.

Persecution is a token that those persecuting you are under conviction. They realize that they are not living what your words or actions are advocating and in self defense, they attack you, who they perceive is the source of their conviction. If you understand this, it makes persecution much easier to take. They aren't just mad at you; they are convicted. When the gospel is presented in the power of the Holy Spirit, there will always be either revival or riot, but not indifference.

In the midst of persecution, Satan will try to convince us that the strife is all our fault. If he succeeds, then we back down and the pressure is off his followers. However, Jesus suffered continual rejection and persecution, yet we know that the problem was not with Him, but with those who rejected Him.

Jesus makes it clear that persecution is an inevitable part of living a godly life, so that we will not fall prey to introspection and self-condemnation when rejection comes. If our sinless Savior was rejected, then certainly we will be too. Don't feel guilty or condemned when persecution comes. The Word strips people of the disguises they have been hiding their sins behind, and the result is persecution.

Topic: Bread of Life [Thursday October 26, 2017]

I am the living bread that came down from heaven . . . — John 6:51

In John 6:48 we read that Jesus said, “I am the bread of life.” Jesus had just fed 5,000 people with five loaves and two fishes. They were all excited and thrilled over the great miracle that had occurred, [but] Jesus was talking about something more important than social needs. Bread in the Scriptures is a symbol of spiritual life.

Man has an inborn hunger for God. He cannot be satisfied with anything less than God. God alone can supply the bread which satisfies the inner longing of your soul and the hunger of your heart. . . . The Bible says that He is the Bread of Life.

Prayer for the day: Lord Jesus, thank You for satisfying the yearnings deep down in my heart. Your presence fulfills the needs of my soul, and I rejoice.

Topic: Take Your Place [Thursday October 26, 2017]

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ...and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. - Ephesians 2:4-6

God has raised us up to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus! That's what the Word of God says. Very few of us have actually dared to believe this. We've uplifted Jesus. We've exalted Him—and rightly so! But at the same time, we've unwittingly belittled what He did by not allowing Him to bring us alongside Him.

That was God's purpose at Calvary: to bring us alongside Jesus. To make us what He already was.

You see, Jesus didn't need exalting. He was exalted before He ever came to this earth. He was already one with the Father. He didn't need to get authority over the devil—He'd never lost it!

He put on a physical body so that He could come to earth as a man and gain authority over sin and sickness, demons, fear, poverty and all the other curses that came when the law of death moved into the earth—and He did it. He succeeded. He mastered everything in the world of the intellect, everything in the physical world.

Before He ascended, He said, "All authority is given unto Me both in heaven and in the earth." Then He turned around and gave that authority to us by giving us His Name.

You and I are the reason Jesus came to earth and died and lived again. He didn't do it for Himself. He did it so He could bring us alongside. So we could wear His Name and wield His authority on the earth. He did it so that we could stand before God and be everything to Him that Jesus is.

When you were born again, you were made the righteousness of God in Christ! So as a born-again believer, dare to receive this message, to meditate on it and to act on it. Go ahead—dare to take your place!

TREM’s Daily 26 October 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo - Position Yourself in the Strong Tower

Topic: Position Yourself in the Strong Tower — Thursday October 26, 2017.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” - (Proverbs 18:10 KJV)

In the book of Judges chapter 9, the Bible tells us that after the death of Gideon, one of his sons, Abimelech felt that it was his turn to rule. He went to his maternal home town, plotted with his maternal relatives and murdered 70 of the sons of Gideon, his half brothers. But God who knows how to preserve his own, preserved one of the sons of Gideon.

Eventually, Abimelech began to rule over Israel. He brought his mother’s relatives and put them in positions of authority and by so doing, crushed every opposition from perceived enemies. But there is always a day of recompense for the wicked. Judges 9:50-55 tells us that when Abimelech came against the city called Thebez, God’s people ran to the tower in the middle of the city and climbed to the top. While they were inside, Abimelech was still attacking and was ready to burn down the gate so as to come in and slay God’s people. Then a woman cast a stone from the top of that tower. The stone hit Abimelech’s skull and he knew that he was going to die. Then he told his armour bearer to kill him so that it will not be said a woman killed him.

Now there is a principle I want to show you in order to break the lordship of Satan over your life. And that is whether you like it or not, you will always be confronted by difficulties. There will always be an Abimelech to contend with. But it is the way you position yourself that will determine whether you come out or not. Abimelech came against the people of God, but they positioned themselves in the strong tower and came out victorious. So also challenges of life will always come but the good thing is that we are on the side of victory. Take your position in the strong tower, and you shall be victorious over every challenge in life.

Our Daily Manna October 26, 2017: ODM devotional – Waiting for Godot…

Topic: Waiting for Godot… [Thursday, October 26, 2017]

Basic Scripture: Isaiah 12: 1-6; Philippians 3: 8-14

There is a drama write-up titled, “Waiting for Godot” written by Samuel Becket. In the drama, the Irish author portrayed a picture of a GLOOMY ATMOSPHERE in which the actors had an idea of what had to be done, but lacked the zeal to implement it because there was no sense of joy.

This play is described as a tragicomedy in which two characters, Vlandimir and Estragon, wait for the arrival of someone named Godot, WHO NEVER ARRIVES and while waiting, they encounter three other characters. Waiting for Godot is Becket’s translation of his own original French play, “En attendant Godot,” and is subtitled (in English only) “a tragicomedy in two acts.” The English Language version was premiered in London in 1955.

In a poll conducted be the British Royal National Theatre in 1990, it was voted the “most significant English language play of the 20th century.” Yet, it is a TRAGICOMEDY! Like this drama piece, millions similarly and most times, seem to know what they want from life and ministry, but they just cannot key in or arrive there, because some things are missing: Zeal and Joy. Zeal is like, “Andrews Liver Salt” in water. It is infectious and spreads.

Whatever you do without joy and zeal in your life is difficult to finish. Galatians 4:18 is great: “But it kids good to be zealously affected in a good thing.” Without zeal, nothing good can survive. If the devil can succeed in killing your joy, he has killed your destiny. Some are not able to work for God again in their churches because of problems. Refuse to shake! Only those who refuse to be shaken get things shaken. When you stop worrying, you start winning (Heb 12:1). Your life is a battle with a sure victory.

Be a man – (1 Kings 2:2)! Be tough! No gentle ever returns to from the war front! Mr. GODOT never arrived in this drama! The actors waited in vain! But for you and your family, something great is about to happen! You will not wait in vain! Your last bus-stop will not be a comedy mixed with tragedy – a tragicomedy! Refuse to cry or crawl! Disappoint your disappointments! The cheapest way up to forget the past, make the best of today and be excited about tomorrow. Anytime you hide in worry, your future becomes uncertain. You and all yours will make it in Jesus name!

DCLM Daily Manna 26 October, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi - Avoid Hasty Conclusion

Topic: Avoid Hasty Conclusion — Thursday October 26, 2017.

Text: Job 22:1-20

Key Verse: "Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?"(Job 22:2).

Somebody once said: "When you’re forming your opinions, do it carefully – go slow; hasty judgments are often followed by regretting – that I know." This was what Eliphaz, Job’s friend, never realized, as he jumped into wrong conclusions about Job. At first, he felt that Job was engrossed with thoughts that God had unjustly afflicted him, which unfortunately, was far from what Job had in mind.

Sadly too, he brought barrels of charges against Job, which never had any substance, except that Job was afflicted. He clearly stated that Job was being punished because of his evil deeds, which was absolutely false because Job, as the Scripture noted, was a good and honest man. He accused Job of oppression, saying that he overlooked the challenges of the poor and widows in the time of his prosperity.

Some rich men, who do not know Christ, could be guilty of these charges, but that was not the situation with Job. This, however, should be a warning to everybody to avoid wrong assumptions and accusations, especially when we do not have any evidence. Assumption, in itself could be sin, as the Scripture states that a fool would not take delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own opinion (Proverbs 18:2).

So, let us be careful in jumping to conclusions, even when things appear to be apparently certain. Such assumptions can sometimes attract God’s wrath and condemnation. Let us also mark the evil way, which the wicked trod and how they ended. This is a warning to every heaven-bound citizen. However, if the wicked are consumed by their evil acts, we should not rejoice at their calamity.

Thought for the day: Avoid assumptions because it can lead to damnation.

Winning Wisdom: Advancement Is Not Necessarily Convenient

Topic: Advancement Is Not Necessarily Convenient [Thursday, 26th October, 2017]

And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. Luke 4:13‭-‬14

It is true that in life you either appreciate in value or you depreciate. If you are stagnated in one spot, it is also depreciation as others would appreciate and leave you behind. With this in mind, we’re to continually seek growth and development. It would however be erroneous for us to think and believe that such growth and development would come at our convenience and serve at our pleasure. A while back my niece fell really sick that she was admitted in a hospital. She was treated for all manner of ailments, only at the end for us to discover that it was her tooth developing. The growth of her tooth made her inconvenient (sick). Yes, advancement can be uncomfortable, and is mostly so.

When Christ was to start up His ministry on earth, He fasted 40 days and nights. Now, we would expert that since He was the son of God He does not need to fast as He's got all power, and because He chose to fast it should have gone smoothly for Him. But the Bible records two difficulties that came with that first; hunger and temptation of the devil. The Word by whom all things were made hungered and then was tempted? Isn’t that just astonishing. However, after all these it was also recorded in Luke 4:14: “and Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.” Without those inconveniences He wouldn’t have advanced so much.

Apostle Paul had to go through a few days of blindness, fasting and praying. What inconvenience! Before the Holy Spirit descended on the day of Pentecost, the disciples had to wait in the upper room, praying. Can you imagine just staying put, not knowing when or how you’d receive the promise, but you just wait? Honestly, I’ll be very reluctant. And now, we’re instructed to give up control of our will for the will of God to be done (Philippians 3:1-10), that’s truly scary. Not being able to have control, but it’s for not only our advancement, but also the advancement of the kingdom. You wonder why you have to give up your job to pursue that career, or whatever it is you seem to be giving up which have brought some inconveniences, don’t fret or complain. Be patient, it is for your advancement and your ultimate good.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Father, thank You for the opportunity to growth and development. I know it won't be easy, but I rely on Your strength absolutely. Help me to be patient that I may obtain the promise, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Joyce Meyer's Daily 26 October 2017 Devotional: Living with God's Thoughts, Will and Emotions

Topic: Living with God's Thoughts, Will and Emotions [Thursday October 26, 2017]

For in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your [own] poets have said, For we are also His offspring. — Acts 17:28

God created each of us with a spirit, a soul, and a body. As believers, we need to understand that the soul contains our mind, will and emotions. Since it is full of “self” and does not want to submit to the Holy Spirit, it must be purified.

Because we have a free will, our own minds tell us what we think, but our thoughts are not necessarily God’s thoughts.

Our wills dictate what we want, even if it conflicts with what He wants for us.

Our emotions determine our feelings, but in Christ, our hearts should only be subject to God and His Word.

God wants us to replace our thoughts, desires, and feelings with His. We cannot live in victory over sin until we do.

Start by telling God you want Him to have His way in your soul. In Romans 6, Paul urges us to “offer” ourselves to Him. Make a choice today not to use your soul for yourself, but to instead offer all of your “self” to God.

As the soul is purified, it is trained to carry God’s thoughts, desires and feelings, and then you will become a powerful outlet for His glory.

Prayer Starter: Lord, my mind, will and emotions sometimes rebel against Your Word, but I don’t want to live that way any longer. Father, I offer my soul to You, knowing that when I do, You can purify me use me to accomplish Your will.
